Skins Format for 2023!
The SKINS HOLES will remain the same throughout the year. You will still play to 100% of your course handicap, but depending on which holes those handicap strokes land on you may get all or just some of your strokes for skins. SKINS HOLES will be as follows: Holes 1, 3, 6, 9, 12, 14, 16, 18. I will note the SKINS HOLES on the tourney scorecards, just as a reminder.
Now, with so few holes in play, it is possible that NO skins are won out the 8 holes in play. That means that 1 lucky person will take the entire skins pot with a great score on one of our TIEBREAKER HOLES! The tiebreakers are sudden death; meaning that once a person wins a hole on a TIEBREAKER HOLE, then the competition is over! TIEBREAKER HOLES are in order: Holes 17, 15, 13, 11, 10, 8, 7, 5, 4, 2.
Confused? Let me describe some possible scenarios:
Scenario 1: In the president flight, there is a skins pot of $180. Chris Latino and Jay Regino each snag a skin on hole 6 and hole 16, respectively. They each get $90.
Scenario 2: In the director flight, there is a skins pot of $150. Not one skin is won on any of the SKINS HOLES. So we go to the tiebreaker holes. Hole 17; tie. Hole 15; tie. However, on Hole 13, Jessie Rosales wins the hole with a net Birdie. He snags the entire pot of $150.
Scenario 3: In the executive flight, there is a skins pot of $175. On this day, 7 of the 8 Skins Holes are won. Payouts are only $25. I think this Scenario will be unlikely, but it is possible.
Scenario 4: I guess there is a possibility that no skins are won at all. It hasn’t happened in 9 seasons, so this is very unlikely.
